KPN Staff

Fred Oaks is responsible for the development of a thriving, nationwide network of Kern Pastors expressed primarily through regional groups. He oversees the Foundation’s grant-making to churches, ensuring that project outcomes are clearly defined, measurable, and aligned with the Foundation’s mission. He also manages relationships with the Foundation’s partners in the Kern Scholars Initiative to help ensure that Kern Scholars receive an excellent theological education, and upon graduation, become active participants in the Made to Flourish network. Fred was ordained in 1987 and joined the Foundation staff in 2005.

Regional Network Coordinators

Chicago – Tom Olson is a graduate of Wheaton College and was a member of the 2004 cohort of Kern Scholars at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. While a seminary student, Tom became the contemporary worship pastor at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church. He served as the high school pastor from 2008-2012, and now serves as pastor of the Barrington Campus.

Los Angeles – Chris Neal is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and was a member of the 2004 cohort of Kern Scholars at Haggard School of Theology (APU). Chris has been employed at NewSong Church in San Dimas, CA since 2004. From 2004-2006 he served as the junior high pastor. In 2007, he was promoted to pastor of student ministries, and since 2011, he has had the privilege of supporting the rest of the Next Gen department.

Ohio – Petar Nenadov is a graduate of The University of Akron and was a member of the 2007 cohort of Kern Scholars at Ashland Theological Seminary. He was in bi-vocational ministry from 2004-2010 as part of a church plant serving youth ministry, mercy ministries, and preaching. Since 2010, as a result of the merger of two congregations, Petar now serves as the lead pastor of Lakeside Christian Church in Akron, Ohio.

Rocky Mountains – Andrew Arndt is a graduate of Oral Roberts University and was a member of the 2003 cohort of Kern Scholars at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. From 2006-2009 he was associate pastor for spiritual formation for Sanctuary, a church plant in Tulsa, Ok. Since 2009 Andrew has served as the lead pastor of Bloom Church in Denver.

Twin Cities – Nathan Gustafson is a graduate of Bethel University and was a member of the 2003 cohort of Kern Scholars at Bethel Seminary. From 2003-2012, he was associate pastor of Student Ministries for Cornerstone Church in Minneapolis, Minn. In September 2012, he began serving as the pastor of Student Ministries at Eagle Brook Church in Lino Lakes, Minn.
